When the weather started to get warmer, Prescylla and I decided to enjoy the scenery at the Distillery District. It is without a doubt one of the most beautiful places in Toronto. The architecture and the brick sidewalks give it a strong European vibe to it.
It was March at the time we visited the Distillery District, when it was the very early stages of spring. The moment the weather hit 19C, we got ditched our boots and winter coats for pointed heels and leather jackets. The sun was out as well, so we got the opportunity to wear our sunglasses. However, don’t let our stoic faces fool you, it got cold as hell (what’s new with Toronto weather).
The outfits that we are wearing in the picture is what we’re seeing a lot on the streets. Being in downtown 99% of the time, especially in the heart of Toronto, I get to witness a lot of fashion trends blooming. On top of that, I see a lot of it on social media also.
THE LEATHER JACKET
This trend, I don’t think, will be going anywhere anytime soon. It’s a staple piece that many should have in the closet. It turns your outfit pretty bad-ass, regardless of what you’re wearing besides it. The leather jacket is perfect for the spring time since it’s not too light and not too heavy of a jacket.
THE POINTED HEELS
These heels have been around for a long time. I remember my mom having them when I was as a kid. The high-platform pumps aren’t as popular as these pointed ones lately. They’ve been seen on celebrities such as the Kardashians, Victoria Beckham & Zendaya. The structure of these pointed heels give your feet a sexier appeal. It elongates your foot (these are perfect for those who have small feet) as well as your legs. The most popular pair of pointed heels are the Louboutin Pigalle Pumps – which are a complete dream to have! Fear not, there are affordable versions at Aldo, Topshop & Zara.
Every second person you will see on the street is wearing boyfriend/ripped jeans. This trend has been booming in the fashion world. Whether it’s a slit in the knee, or a leg full of holes, many girls and boys have a pair in their closet. Individually, these pants are informal because of its tattered appearance, but somehow there’s a way for them to look not so “messy” looking when you pair them with a formal-looking top, heels or jacket.
Individually, the heels are formal, the leather jacket is grunge and the ripped/boyfriend jeans are casual. However, together the pieces complimented each other. Even though we’re wearing heels, we don’t look as formal as we did going to prom, the jeans and the jacket tones it down a bit.
